The Brazilian automobile industry has a series of agreements that regulate the international trade of vehicles and self-propelled machinery.

International Agreements

Quick View of Tariff Preferences

The Siscomex system of the Ministry of Economy (ME) offers a quick query option for the Tariff Preferences granted in the main agreements. The consultation can be done by NCM.

Import tax

Mercosur Common External Tariff (TEC)

The Mercosur Common External Tariff (TEC) defines the Import Tax used by the Block for each item of the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM).

The NCMs of automobiles, light commercials, trucks, buses, chassis, bodies, major assemblies, parts and pieces are in chapter 87 of the TEC. Agricultural and road machinery can be found in chapters 84 and 87.

The updated CET list can be accessed at the  Brazilian Ministry of Economy’s website, which also provides information on other trade regimes.
